What Is Stretch Therapy?
If you feel stiff, restricted, or struggle to move as freely as you once could, Stretch Therapy is the solution.
This is a guided, hands-on treatment designed to improve overall movement quality. Unlike a traditional massage, where muscles are passively manipulated, Stretch Therapy uses assisted stretching techniques. Your therapist will gently move your limbs through targeted ranges of motion, helping to lengthen tight muscles, mobilise stiff joints, and restore ease of movement that is difficult to achieve on your own.
Who Is It For?
Stretch Therapy is ideal for anyone who wants to feel more agile and comfortable in their body, particularly if you:
- Spend long periods sitting at a desk or in one position
- Struggle with poor posture
- Undertake heavy exercise or training
- Are recovering from an injury and need to regain mobility
By improving flexibility and joint mobility, Stretch Therapy not only enhances performance and posture but also reduces the risk of injury and helps you feel lighter, more energised, and ready to move freely again.
Why Stretching Matters
Flexibility is a vital part of physical wellbeing, yet it’s often overlooked. Muscles can tighten and joints lose mobility, which may lead to poor posture, restricted movement, and discomfort.
Stretch Therapy is excellent for:
- Increasing Range of Motion: Helps improve mobility in the shoulders, hips, and back, making everyday movements and exercise feel easier.
- Reducing Muscle Stiffness: Gently eases tightness that can build up overnight or after intense activity.
- Supporting Posture: Targets tight chest and hip flexor muscles to help counteract the effects of prolonged sitting.
- Promoting Injury Resilience: Maintaining supple muscles and joints can reduce the likelihood of minor strains or overuse discomfort.
The Perfect Partner To Physiotherapy and Massage
Stretch Therapy works beautifully alongside our Physiotherapy and Massage services to support long-term movement health.
While Physiotherapy focuses on rehabilitating injuries and Massage eases muscle tension, Stretch Therapy re-educates muscle length and joint mobility. It acts as the bridge between recovery and performance, helping you not only regain freedom of movement but also maintain it so once you’re pain-free, you stay that way.
Your Experience: What To Expect
Stretch Therapy is an active, collaborative treatment. Your involvement ensures maximum benefit.
The Session
You will remain fully clothed in comfortable, loose-fitting attire, such as gym wear. Your therapist will guide you through a tailored series of stretches, combining passive stretches, resisted stretches, and PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) techniques.
Throughout the session, your therapist will communicate with you constantly to find the “edge” of each stretch, the point where it is effective but never painful, ensuring maximum benefit for flexibility, mobility, and overall movement quality.
The Sensation
You should never feel pain. Instead, you’ll experience a gentle, sustained ‘stretch’ in the target muscle as your therapist carefully controls the intensity. Most customers leave feeling elongated, looser, and lighter, with improved mobility and a renewed sense of ease in their body.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Stretch Therapy Suitable For Anyone?
Stretch Therapy is ideal for those new to stretching or those who regularly stretch, as every session is tailored to your comfort and ability. We work with your body exactly where it is, not where you think it should be.
Do I Need To Be Flexible To Try It?
No. This treatment is designed to help improve flexibility over time. Being “too stiff” is not a limitation, it simply means stretch therapy is ideal for you.
Will It Be Painful?
No. You may feel a gentle, satisfying stretch, but it should never be uncomfortable or sharp. Your therapist will always check in with you to ensure the pressure is right.
What Should I Wear?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, such as leggings, joggers, or shorts. Jeans or tight belts are not suitable for this treatment.
Can It Help Alongside Physiotherapy and Massage?
Yes, Stretch Therapy can complement Physiotherapy and Massage by helping to maintain muscle relaxation and reduce tension between sessions. Many customers find it a useful addition to an overall wellness or movement routine.
Can stretch therapy help improve flexibility after an injury?
Yes. Stretch therapy involves structured stretching techniques to improve muscle flexibility, tissue extensibility, and joint range of motion — all of which support better movement and can help prevent limitations after injury.
Will it reduce muscle tightness and discomfort?
Yes; by increasing muscle and fascia flexibility, stretch therapy can relieve muscle tightness, reduce discomfort, and support easier movement in areas like the shoulders, hips, and lower back.
Can it help reduce my risk of strains or sprains?
Absolutely. Improved flexibility and balanced movement patterns reduce the risk of soft tissue injuries like strains and sprains, making daily activities and exercise safer.
Is stretch therapy useful for posture‑related pain?
Yes. Stretch therapy can help correct muscle imbalances and joint restrictions that contribute to poor posture — in turn easing discomfort in the neck, upper back, and hips caused by prolonged or repetitive sitting.
